Richard and Judy’s Autumn Book Club favourite read

Thursday 22 December 2011

Readers have once again been voting via the WHSmith website for their favourite read, this time from the eight titles in Richard and Judy’s Autumn 2011 Book Club exclusively with WHSmith.

After the record-breaking Sister, by debut author Rosamund Lupton, won the Autumn 2010 vote, WHSmith announced that the winner for 2011 is the gripping murder-mystery The Black House, by critically acclaimed author and scriptwriter, Peter May.

Peter May said, "I am absolutely delighted that readers who bought The Blackhouse from WHSmith have voted it the best read of the Richard and Judy Autumn Book Club. It is a fantastic vote of confidence in the choices made by Richard and Judy, and in the prominence which WHSmith gives to their promotion. Nothing is more satisfying for a writer than to receive the plaudits of his or her readers. I am honoured and humbled."

Richard and Judy’s new selection of titles for their Spring Book Club will be available in WHSmith stores nationwide from the beginning of January 2012.

Peter May is the author of several standalone novels and two series: the award-winning China Thrillers, featuring Beijing detective Li Yan and American forensic pathologist Margaret Campbell; the critically-acclaimed Enzo Files, featuring Scottish forensic scientist Enzo MacLeod, which is set in France.

One of Scotland's most prolific television dramatists, he garnered more than 1000 credits in 15 years as scriptwriter and script editor on prime-time British television drama.
