Who Does Richard Think He Is?

Friday 24 June 2011

Unless you’ve been living in a box for the last few years, you’ll have heard about the popular genealogy programme, Who Do You Think You Are? That's if you're not entirely hooked and already holding on tight for the next series to begin.

Well, hold onto your Richard and Judy hats because before long, the BBC1 show will be returning for its 8th series this August. An all-star cast set to include Mr Richard Madeley, takes the plunge deep into family ancestry and uncovers a host of hidden pasts and shock revelations.

Along side Richard will be Eastenders’ Dot Cotton (June Brown) and Harry Potter author, JK Rowling and a number of other names. The family histories uncover a wealth of intriguing and surprising circumstances including one of the bloodiest ever massacres on American soil, and cases of illegitimacy, slavery and baby borrowing. One of the ten stumbles upon a mysterious name change and another unearths the family mystery behind a mother’s adoption. Elsewhere, a rags to riches tale throws up more questions and a secret file is opened for the first time.

The series’ executive producer for Wall to Wall productions, Tom McDonald, said, “For our eighth series, we’re proud to be bringing a fantastic line-up to BBC ONE including our first author and first artist. With a host of uncovered family secrets and revelations, this series of Who Do You Think You Are? is one of our strongest yet”.

Stay tuned for times and dates!

  • Hello Richard,

Here's a book I think you'll enjoy more than Judy. But I might be wrong...

    Kind regards

  • I wanted to tell you about a delightful read for young adults, and also those of us not so young. The book is called Everybody Jam and is written by a young Northeast author Ali Lewis, (short for Alison). It is set on an Australian cattle station and is basically a coming of age story. It is a real page turner and I guarantee you won't be able to put it down once you start reading it.
